   The American Indian Experience: How did we get here?

  A mobile interactive mixed-media program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the American Indian experience before and after European contact.

 

 

Program Overview:

 

The American Indian Experience Program has been developed to meet the

needs of educators from grades 4- 12, continuing education students, and community

organizations, by presenting a detailed exposure to local, regional and national

American Indian history, culture, contributions and current issues.

What will you learn?

 

The program includes the following covered topics:

 

• Tribal Life & Government

• Agriculture

• Wildlife

• Interactive Games

• Language

• Columbus

• European arrival to Virginia and Maryland

• Native Stereotypes

• Who we are today

• Current influential/notable people

 

Also included: before and after projects, teaching of a native friendship dance and for an

additional fee - a food tasting.

 

Program specifics:

 

Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours

 

Maximum Audience: 60 people per session

 

Maximum Sessions per day: 4
